Larnaca airport - About
Larnaca Airport is the largest airport in Cyprus and is situated
6 km from Larnaca city. Larnaca Airport is handling an average of 1,000
flight arrivals monthly and is used by more than six million persons, visiting
Cyprus for their holidays, per year. This number of tourists and consequently
flights to Larnaca Airport are expected to grow in the coming years as the nearby
holiday resorts of Limassol, Agia Napa and Protaras become hot getaway
destinations for European people.
The Larnaca airport serves 25-30 international airlines and about same
number of chartered flights with it's spacious arrival and
departure lounges. Cyprus Airways is the big leader in
the number of flights and also has significant stake in the retail and duty free
shops of Larnaca Airport.
Larnaca airport - New
In November 2009 Larnaca Airport has undergone significant upgrades where a new and modern
terminal building was added to cater for the projected rise of flights to Larnaca Airport. With the opening of
the new Larnaca Airport terminal the old building has been renovated and
converted into a cargo and V.I.P arrivals/departure facility.

With these upgrades the new terminal of Larnaca Airport now has sixty
seven check in desks. It also features a
54,000 sq feet retail store, operated by
Cyprus Airports Duty-Free management. Other latest additions to new Larnaca Airport
are also a new fire station and air traffic control tower.
Facilities
There are several restaurants, cafeterias and bars at Larnaca
Airport. The airport also contains banks, post office, ATM'S and a modern Information Desk. There are
many car hire desks inside the terminal and taxi service is located outside the
terminal building.
